Plano, Texas (June 5, 2017)-Before Monday, the Bombers had yet to score double-digit runs in a single game and they were the only team that had not hit a homerun on the season. After their Monday matchup with the Texas Marshals, they crossed both of those off their list of things to do in the 2017 TCL season.
It was a matter of time before the Bombers’ bats decided to take off and pick up their pitching staff (who, by the way, had another outstanding night) and lead the way to another long stay atop the TCL standings.
The Bombers saw that happen in their 11-0 win over the Texas Generals at Graham Field in Plano, for the most complete team win of the young season. A true ‘check-list’ type of game.
Things started in the second inning where, Nutrabolt Player of the Game, Dallas Stefano led off the inning with a solo homerun to left-center field. First jimmie-jack for a Bombers’ hitter this season? Check.
That was then followed up with another, oh you know, seven runs to complete an 8-run top of the second, which was more than enough for starter Ross Bludau. Bludau went 7 innings deep into the night, allowing just 3 hits, and not giving up a run or walk while striking out three. Quality start for a Bomber’s starter? Check.
Clayton Hill came in and closed the door in both the 8th and 9th to push the bullpens’s scoreless inning streak to 24 innings in a row. Another scoreless outing by outstanding bullpen? Check.
As the innings flashed by, the Bomber’s tacked on a few more, thanks to a good night from Troy Anderson who went 3 for 3 with 2 2B, 2 RBIs, and 2 BBs from the plate. And Micheal Helman added a moon-shot homerun to left field to make it 11-0. Score double-digits for first time this season? Check.
With the win, the Bombers take a .5 game lead in the TCL standings over Acadiana, and have won a league best 6-straight. Take TCL league lead for first time? Check.
The Bombers comclude their series with the Texas Marshals Tuesday night in Plano. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm and you can catch the pre-game show starting at 6:45pm all on Willy 1550, and radioaggieland.com.
