Texarkana, Texas(July,26,2017)- The Brazos Valley Bombers earned their 4th straight win, completing the sweep of the Texarkana Twins with a 4 run 9th inning to defeat Texarkana. Ross Bludau and Ben Donnell started the game for their respective clubs.
Both Bludau and Donnell started off the game, dominating opposing hitters and keeping zeros on the board for the first three innings of the game.
The Twins would strike first with a 2 run home run from second baseman Alex Rodriguez for his third home run of the season. Chad McKinney would also drive in a run with a sacrifice fly to cap off a 3 run inning for Texarkana.
The Bombers would get on the board with an RBI double in the 7th by Chase Calabuig to cut the Twins lead to 3-1.
Collin Garrett would come into the game in relief of Bludau in the 7th inning and would go 2 innings allowing no runs and no hits to keep the deficit to 3-1 for the Bombers hitters in the 9th inning.
Chase Calabuig would hit a double in the 9th to get the late inning rally going for the Bombers. Ryan Benavidez would hit a long fly ball that would hit off the right field wall to drive in Calabuig to get the game to a 3-2 score. Christian Boulware would join the RBI parade and tie the game after driving in Kyle O’Keefe to tie the game at 3-3.
Thomas Jeffries would hit a RBI single to drive in Benavidez to give the Bombers a 4-3 lead with runners on 1st and 3rd for John Grimsley.
Grimsley would leg out an infield single to drive in Boulware to cap off a 4 run top of the 9th and give the Bombers a 5-3 lead.
Reid Morgan shut down the Twins hitters with 2 groundouts and a strikeout of Gunnar Halter to end the game and give the Bombers a 5-3 win.
Collin Garret would get his first victory of the season and Dustin Lecaze would get his first loss of the season after giving up 4 runs in the 9th inning. Reid Morgan would earn his 5th save of the season.
