Bombers Surge Past Generals on the Road
Bryant Shellenbarger goes 3-5 with 2 RBI’s and Cam Haller hits 2 run home run in win.
Bryan/College Station, TX – July, 11 2019 – With a limited roster the Bombers prevailed on the road in Victoria Thursday by a score of 9-5. Manager Brian Nelson was limited to nine position players for the 1st game of the series against the Generals. Even with the roster limitations the Bombers were able to collect 10 hits on the night including two triples and a home run.
The Generals were controlling the early innings scoring the 1st two runs of the contest and blanking the Bombers through 5 innings. However, the Bombers flipped a switch offensively and took advantage of walks issued by the Generals pitching staff. The Bombers plated three runs in the 6th inning and four runs in the 7th inning to take a 7-2 lead.
Victoria scratched one back in the bottom of the 7th and teams traded two runs each in the final frame as the Bombers won 9-5.
The Bombers were led at the plate by Bryant Shellenbarger who went 3-5 with a triple and 2 RBI’s, and Cam Haller who went 2-4 with a walk and smoked an opposite field two run home run. Chase Kemp added a 2-5 day with a triple and an RBI.
Henry Bird got the win on the mound giving up two earned runs on two hits, across 6 innings with four strikeouts. Bryce Bennett came in and got one out in the 7th before giving way to Amado Almanzar who pitched the final 2.2 innings with three strikeouts.
The Bombers will finish the series with the Generals tomorrow night July 12th with 1st pitch scheduled for 7:05. The Bombers are then set to travel to Baton Rouge to face off with the Rougarou barring any cancellations due to inclement weather.
