Mittelstaedt hits game-winning hit in extra innings as Dirtbags complete sweep of Pacific
T.J. Mittelstaedt showed why he is a fan favorite among Bomber fans this past weekend. He went 5-for-12 with three RBI, including a bases loaded single in the 11th inning on Sunday to win the game by a score of 7-6. Long Beach State began the weekend with a 10-3 throttling of Pacific behind Mittelstaedt’s two hits and two RBI. Dustin Rasco pitched well in one inning of relief, allowing no runs. The next two games were close, as the Dirtbags pulled off one-run wins to secure the three game sweep. After struggling midway through the season, Long Beach State has gotten back on track, bringing their record to 26-15.
Cunningham propels Jacksonville State to sweep over Eastern Kentucky
Todd Cunningham had a huge all-around weekend, going 4-for-11 with three runs, two doubles, two RBI, a walk, and a stolen base as Jacksonville State swept Eastern Kentucky in three games. Jacksonville State maintains half game lead in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 13-4 record.
Tyler Davis’ complete game not enough to beat A&M Corpus Christi
Tyler Davis was outstanding on Friday, but in the end it was not enough as A&M Corpus Christi squeaked out a 3-2 win. Davis struck out seven in nine innings, only allowing three runs, and Shon Landry was 2-for-4, but the Cowboys failed to deliver in clutch situations. After dropping the second game of the series 7-1, McNeese State roared back with a 10-5 victory on Sunday behind Landry’s four hits. He finished the day 4-for-5 with three runs in the win.
