Mittelstaedt and Long Beach State Sweep UCLA

The Dirtbags handled #11 UCLA easily this past weekend, winning all three games and further establishing themselves as title contenders. The Dirtbags came out strong on Friday and dominated in every aspect of the game in a 13-3 win. Saturday proved to be the toughest game of the weekend as the Dirtbags squeaked out a 3-2 victory, thanks to Bomber fan favorite T.J. Mittelstaedt who provided all of the offense in a last inning come from behind victory. He tied the game up with a 2 RBI double and then scored the winning run on an error. On Sunday, Long Beach State completed the sweep with a convincing 10-3 victory.

Landry powers McNeese State to sweep

Last Thursday, Bomber Tyler Davis pitched a six strikeout masterpiece in McNeese State ’s victory over Nicholls State . On Friday and Saturday, it was Shon Landry’s turn to take over the games. Landry, also a teammate of Davis ’ on the Bombers, provided nearly all the offense on Friday in a 4-1 victory. He was 2-for-4 on the day, with his 5th homerun of the season, along with 3 RBI and 2 stolen bases. The next day he proved that his offensive heroics were no fluke, going 2-for-5 and also scoring a run.
