Bombers Trounce Pump Jacks 11-1

The Bombers finished their two game home stand tonight by hosting the East Texas Pump Jacks. The Bombers were in control in this one as they beat the Pump Jacks 11-1 as the two teams now head to Kilgore for a game tomorrow night at 7:05.

The Bombers had three innings where they scored their runs. They scored four in the first and fourth innings and ended the evening by scoring three in the seventh. Right fielder Myles Parma got the first inning started by hitting a single. Parma moved to third on a double by First baseman James Wharton. Both Parma and Wharton would come home a single by Third baseman Brennyn Smith. Left fielder Brandon Wood would then draw a walk and come home along with Smith on a triple by Catcher Braden Mattson. The fourth inning for the Bombers was started by Shortstop Nick Smelser who hit a double. Smelser would score on a bunt attempt by Center fielder Chris Florack that was thrown past first for an error. Florack would come score on a single by second baseman Corey Toups. Toups would score on a double by Left Fielder Brandon Wood and also coming home to score on the play was Wharton would got on base by drawing a walk. The seventh inning was started when Designated hitter Bobby Butvin drew a walk. Smelser would then step to the plate and line a single. With Florack at the plate, Butvin would move up to third on a wild pitch and Florack would reach base with a single. Butvin would score the first run of the inning on a single hit by Toups. Smelser would score on a wild pitch with Parma at the plate. Florack would score the third run after Parma hit a sacrifice fly.

New Bomber and A&M player Kyle Martin got the start tonight for the Bombers. Martin threw the first seven innings giving up three hits and recorded five strikeouts. Franco Pace and Nick Johnson both pitched the final two innings respectfully without allowing any runs. For his performance Martin was named the H&R Block Never Settle For Less Player of the Game.

The Bombers made great plays defensively tonight to help out the pitching staff, but the one play of the night was made by Center fielder Chris Florack. He made a top play caliber catch on the ball in the second inning then alertly noticed that the runner failed to tag up so Florack fired to James Wharton at first to double off the runner.

The Bombers now go on the road for three games. The journey begins in Kilgore tomorrow night and concludes with a two game series with the Cane Cutters this coming Sunday and Monday. The Bombers then return home to close out July with a game with the Pump Jacks. That game is a $2 Tuesday with $2 Tickets, Beer Soda & Hotdogs brought to you by Fabulous Fare! The other promotion that night is College Night with 50 cent Beer and Soda!
