Bombers Defeat U.S. Military All-Stars in Walk-Off Fashion

The Brazos Valley Bombers game against the U.S. Military All-Stars went right down to the wire, as both teams battled closely throughout. The Bombers had a 3-1 lead through five innings and the Military All-Stars battled back to even things up at three, but the Bombers scored on a walk-off by Joe Craven to win 4-3.

The Bombers got off to a good start in the second inning, as they scored two runs to take an early 3-0 lead. Casey Dykes led things off with a single, Joaquin Hinojosa was hit by a pitch and Wes Schill singled to load the bases with no outs. Kyle Atkins then electrified the crowd with a drive to the right field gap for a double, scoring Dykes and Hinojosa. Schill later scored on a sacrifice hit by Clifton Thomas to give the Bombers their third run of the inning.

The Military All-Stars, who came into the game with an 18-1 record, battled back in the coming innings to even the game up at three, where the score stood until the ninth inning. The Military All-Stars threatened with two runners on base, but Geoff Lomax struck out the final hitter of the inning to keep the score evened up at three.

Clifton Thomas led off the bottom of the ninth inning belting a triple off the wall in left-center field to put the winning run on third base. With the infield playing in, Joe Craven nailed a single down the right field line to score Thomas and give the Bombers the 4-3 win.

The Bombers will be back home for Margaritaville Wednesday against the first-place East Texas Pumpjacks, which will feature $2 Margaritas and $2 Draft Beer. The following night will be Thirsty Thursday, giving fans an opportunity to enjoy $1 Draft Beer and $0.50 Soft Drinks.
