Bombers Secure Home Field With 2-1 Walk-Off

3rd Straight Win

Bryan/College Station, Texas (August 6, 2017)- The Brazos Valley Bombers clinched the regular season title after a 12 inning walk off victory over the Acadiana Cane Cutters. For the third straight game, the Bombers would win in walk off fashion.

CJ Varela took the mound for the Bombers for his seventh start of the season. Varela entered the game looking for his third win of the season.

The Bombers would strike early when Jermayne Ward hit and RBI single to drive in Kyle O’Keefe in the second inning to give the Bombers a 1-0 lead.

O’Keefe would show off his defensive abilities when he robbed Jonathan Artigues on a line drive right to the 3rd base side to keep the Cane Cutters of the board.

The Cane Cutters would put a run of the board in the 7th inning off of an RBI from Artigues to tie the game a 1-1.

CJ Varela would pitch 7 quality innings, allowing just 1 run on 4 hits, but would not get the decision for his seventh start of the season.

Landon Miner would come into the game in the 8th inning and would shutdown the Cane Cutters before turning things over to Reid Morgan in the 9th inning.

The Bombers would get the bases loaded in the 10th inning with only one out, but were unable to score the winning run to force the game to an 11th inning.

Reid Morgan went on the pitch 3 innings again shutting the door on opposing batters, only giving up 3 hits. Brandon Ivey took the mound in the top of the 12th inning.

Ivey also silenced the Cane Cutters bats and allowed the Bombers bats a chance to win it in the bottom of the inning.

After a quick first out, O’Keefe was able to reach base and get Dalton Stark to the plate. Stark had driven in the game winning run last night in extra innings, and had a chance to do so again.

On a 2-1 pitch, he was able to drive the ball to left-center field which drove in O’Keefe to give the Bombers their third straight walk off win.

With the win, the Bombers secured home field advantage for both rounds of the 2017 TCL playoffs.

The Bombers hit the road for two more games against the Texarkana Twins and will return home for round 1 action of Wednesday, August 9th.
