Get to Know the Opponent: Victoria Generals

Bryan/College Station, Texas – May 16, 2018 – TCL rivals, the Victoria Generals look to recapture the success the team experienced in the second half of last season and compete for the TCL championship in 2018. Last year’s team finished first in the second half, but second overall in the regular season to the Brazos Valley Bombers. The team experienced an early exit in the playoffs, when they lost in the first round to the Arcadiana Cane Cutters.

The Generals will be led this season by Head Coach Michael Oros. Oros is a former Victoria Generals player, who played for the team from 2009 through 2011, including winning a TCL championship with the team in 2010. This will be the third season that Oros has been the head coach of the Generals, and the team will rely on his experience and leadership to compete in this year’s championship hunt.

This year’s Generals roster features a pair from Rice University, an infielder from Texas State University, and a member of the University of Arkansas baseball team. Catcher Parker Osburn and Dominic Cox are both young members of the Rice Owls baseball team but will both bring different tools to this year’s Generals roster. First Baseman/Catcher Brady Disher is a highly touted member of the Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team after he was named to the Rawlings-Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American team in 2017. Finally, Dalton Shuffield is an infielder for the Texas State Bobcat team who comes to Victoria after a successful High School career at Johnson High School.
